As preparations for the 2027 General Election gather pace, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has concluded the receipt of names and specimen signatures of persons authorized by political parties to transact electoral-related matters on their behalf.
The exercise marks an important step in preparing for the next General Election, helping the Commission establish clear lines of communication with political parties and identify officials formally authorized to represent them in electoral matters.
In its election timetable published through the Kenya Gazette, the Commission set Thursday, 15th October 2026, as the deadline for political parties intending to participate in the 2027 General Election to submit the required details.
The Gazette notice stated: “Each political party intending to participate in the General Election shall submit the names and specimen signatures of the authorized persons on or before Thursday, 15th October, 2026.”
With the submission period now closed, the Commission will proceed to verify the information received to establish compliance with the applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including the completeness and accuracy of the submitted details.
The verification process is important in ensuring that engagement between the Commission and political parties is conducted through duly authorized representatives, promoting clarity, accountability and orderly coordination throughout the electoral process.
As the country continues its preparations for the 2027 General Election, the Commission remains focused on meeting established electoral timelines and putting in place the necessary administrative arrangements to support a credible and well-coordinated election.
